Courses and Support

Support:  for teenagers and their parents

A Pastoral Assistant is in training for this role.  Watch this space!

Support: Marriage Preparation Course - Next Course Dates: 14 & 28 January, 11 February

If you are preparing for marriage, at St. Mary’s or elsewhere, we would be delighted to welcome you  to join the annual Marriage Preparation Course.  We explore lots of issues that are potentially marriage breakers, but in the cool light of day rather than waiting to discover the issue in the heat of the moment. We meet at St Mary’s on three Saturday mornings in January/February from 10.00am to 12.00noon.  The course includes elements on communication skills, intimacy, dealing with conflict, expectations, children, and more. Do get in touch with Paul (375000) if you’re interested.

Support:  House Groups

A number of groups meet to enjoy each other’s company and to discuss and learn together how we can let our loving God develop our lives for the better. Call Paul, the Rector, to find out more (375000).

Support:  for older people

A team of trained and licensed Pastoral Assistants is pleased to offer support to those who are house-bound, in hospital, or lonely.  Some of the team are also trained as bereavement visitors.   Please speak to Jacky Breadmore (372293) if you would like to explore how one of the team might offer some support to you or a loved one.   There are various ways in which they might offer help: telephone calls, popping in with news, prayer, joining in the Thursday Coffee group or for those who are house-bound, they might arrange for Holy Communion to be brought to you at home.

Support: Bereavement Care

…  is available both through our trained bereavement visitors and occasionally through a group led by a BACP accredited counsellor (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Many people in the Fetcham community will have lost someone close to them recently. Death forces unwanted change and life may never be quite the same again. After the numbness and shock of loss people experience feelings of isolation, intense sadness and fear of an unknown future. Confidence and concentration may be impaired. Bereavement produces many powerful emotions. Exploring these with others in a similar situation is very helpful and allows people to share and discover they are not alone in their grief.

If you would like to know more please contact Julie in the Parish Office (375000) who would be delighted to hear from you.
