2018 Christmas Gift Appeal

Christmas Gift Appeal:-

Over many years St. Mary’s has deserved its reputation as a generous giving church, with mission at its heart. Once again we will be delighted to accept any presents that you might wish to give for some of Surrey’s most needy individuals. We have confirmation that four local charities and good causes would again love to receive some gifts:-

1) Presents for some of the guests at the Village Hall Christmas Day Lunch Party

Graham Peddie’s guests are local men and women who are either blind or lonely, or are suffering from mental health problems or addictions, are socially excluded. They would be delighted to receive presents such as warm clothes, gloves, scarves, socks and hats, toiletries, luxury non-perishable food items, such as biscuits and chocolates. No alcohol please.

2) Children’s Presents so that the Mole Valley CAP (Christians Against Poverty) can give every child, of the families they are helping locally, a present. This can range from presents for babies and infants, though to teenagers. Toys, games, books, chocolate or sweet collections and cuddly toys are always much appreciated.

3) B@titude has said that the most useful gift it could receive, to give to their clients, would be a Sainsbury’s or Tesco Gift Card please

4) We have a link with Surrey County Council’s most vulnerable teenagers and have been asked if we could once again be kind enough to give presents to the teenagers on SCC’s books, coming out of the top of the care system, the homeless, those suffering from addictions and with terrible home circumstances. For many of these teenagers, ours will be the only presents they receive. Suitable presents are scarves, hats and gloves and other clothing items, books, vouchers, age-appropriate dvds, chocolates, jewellery, make up. Obviously please no alcohol.

There is absolutely no need to feel any obligation whatsoever to donate a gift, but if you wish to give, we will be delighted to collect your presents in the church hall, until Sunday 9th December. This has grown over the years as people have asked what they can give. We would love to streamline and simplify our giving, but we have to respect what each local cause would find most helpful, and we feel we couldn’t stop collecting for each of these very worthwhile causes.

Do give your present as it is, and we can wrap it up, or do donate it already wrapped, with a tag saying who might be the most suitable recipient; ‘teenage girl’, ‘2 year old boy’ and ‘older man’, for example. We will be wrapping up presents around 9th December, so do please try to get your gifts to us by the 9th December at the very latest, to allow distribution in good time.

Thank you so much.
