    Parish Away Day:
Sat 3 Sept – This year our Parish Away Day will be at Manor House School in Effingham.  You are warmly invited to join us from 12noon until 5pm.  Please bring your own picnic food, chairs, rugs and stay for as much of the day as you can.  There’s a beautiful garden at the front of the house for picnics and a bouncy castle, a variety of playgrounds for younger children to play in and lots of areas for garden games and summer sports.  We will also have access to the main hall should the weather be inclement.  NB: Please leave dogs at home!

Please let Corinne know if you can help for an hour during the day offering tea/coffee and if you can bring a cake for afternoon tea.  We look forward to seeing many of you there.

Experience our 11.15 Worship Band:  Sun 4 Sept, 12noon – The worship band will hold an informal practice session, where ANYBODY who loves to worship can come and find out what it`s like to be a part of the band. Whether you play a triangle or sing, whether you read music or improvise around the tune, whether you are young or slightly more mature: if you love to worship, we would love to hear from you and we’ll then send you some more details about the day!  Contact furzefamily@hotmail.co.uk

Rector Email Alert:  Be careful when opening emails from Pouya.  Although the email appears to come from him, the sending email address is not rector@stmarysfetcham.org.uk.  It’s possible that his email account has been hacked.  Do not forward or action, just delete it.

Community Coffee Shop continues throughout the summer:  The coffee shop is growing in popularity.  Come and join us every Monday from 10am – 11.30am (except Bank Holiday Monday) for tea/coffee and cake.  We have a special children’s corner with lots of toys for them to play with and plenty of room for buggies.  Car Parking available.  Meet up with old friends or make new ones!

Volunteers needed for Sat 10 Sept –We need 5 volunteer for each hour between 10am and 5pm, that’s 30-35 people, to welcome hundreds of visitors for Heritage Open Days on Sat 10 Sept.  If you can, do please bake a cake or biscuits, volunteer to welcome visitors and serve refreshments.  If you are not able, how about sponsoring some of our youngsters, participating in the Ride & Stride?  Charity and Ed are leading a group of teenagers and would especially value your sponsorship. Sponsor forms are available at the back of the church now.

The brochure for the Mole Valley area is available to view online  Mole Valley Heritage Open Days 2022.  To find out more about the history of St Mary’s you may wish to take a look at our website where there are several documents of interest found in the Our Church page.

Please speak with Sarah Mackay or David Slater to find out more.

Ride and Stride:  Sat 10 Sept – Enjoy a day walking or cycling around some of our beautiful local churches, whilst raising money for the Surrey Churches Preservation Trust.  Half the money raised comes back to St Mary’s and it’s a great day.  Sponsorship forms are available at the back of the church.  To find out more email Sarah Mackay

Homemade Stall and Secondhand Books:  Sun 4 Sept – Following a summer break, let’s make it a big colourful stall this time and raise lots of money for homework clubs in Nairobi’s slums.  Come along to the church hall on the first Sunday morning of the month between the 9.30 and 11.15 services.  We will be very glad to receive any home-made contributions, such as cakes, jams, marmalade, greetings cards, garden produce, knitted and embroidered crafts and don’t forget your wallets!

The Last Night of the Proms cancelled:  Sat 10 Sept – Unfortunately I’ve had to make the decision not to run this event in the hall this year.  I’m not available that day and sadly nobody responded to my plea to take over the organisation of the evening.  Do support all the events St Mary’s is hosting that Heritage Weekend and we do have the Church Day Out the previous Saturday at Manor House School.  Speaking of which, can you please get in touch with me if you’d like to help and / or make a cake for us to enjoy for tea.  Corinne – 01372 800885 or corinne@stmarysfetcham.org.uk.  Thank you!

Rehoming 2 sofas from the hall:  The observant of you will have noticed the increase of tub chairs in the comfy corner in the hall.  We now have 4 tub chairs and it is time to remove the orange and cream sofas that are not so easy to get out of, or move around for the various activities that happen in the hall.  Firstly, would anyone like to rehome either of them?  The orange is also a sofa bed.  Secondly, if they are not rehomed can anyone help with a vehicle big enough to take to the Mole Valley recycling centre?  We can arrange collection but there is a cost incurred so just checking before we do that.

Unavailability on My Rotas in MyChurchSuite:  There is an excellent tool that captures dates when people are unavailable, which makes setting up rotas so much easier.  If you are involved in a rota, please can you enter the dates you are not available from October right through to the end of January.  By using My Rotas it will be easy to swap dates if you find you can’t do the ones you’re assigned to, but first of all if you enter your unavailability that will be a great help to all the overseers.  A guidance sheet is available if you have not already received one by email.

An Evening with Graham Kendrick:  Fri 16 Sept, 7.30pm – The Horsley and Ockham Group Ministry (St Mary’s, West Horsley, St Martin’s, East Horsley and All Saints, Ockham) are very pleased to be hosting an Evening with Graham Kendrick at St Martin’s, with free parking at Horsley Towers.  This will be a rare opportunity to listen (and sing with) one of the most prolific Christian songwriters of our generation.  For tickets and more information click here

Age Concern Befriender:  Do you have 1-2 hours free a week?  Would you like to make a difference to someone’s life?  Then Age Concern Mole Valley has the perfect opportunity for you.  They are looking for volunteers to join their Befriender scheme across Mole Valley.  For more details, please contact their Volunteer Co-ordinator Andrea Kelley on: 07821 649683 / 01306 899104 or email andrea@ageconcernmolevalley.org.uk.
