A Date for your Diary – Wednesday 14th June at 7.30pm: Our Archdeacon, The Ven Martin Breadmore, is coming to St Mary’s to explain the process of going into vacancy when Pouya leaves sometime in the summer and the subsequent procedures to find our new Incumbent. All are welcome. Do please pray for Pouya and the family as they prepare for their departure to go to the US, for Martin and our meeting on the 14th and the person God is preparing and calling to come to Fetcham.
Thursday 10am Service: After much deliberation I’ve decided to change our weekly Communion service to a monthly gathering from June. This is due to the low number of worshipers for the last 12 months. Unfortunately, some members have become more frail and some others have passed away. Quite often, apart from Jacky Breadmore, Iain Whitlam and myself, there might be 1 or 2 others joining the service. In consultation with the Wardens and Julie it is the right decision to make. Especially finding clergy cover during the vacancy might be quite challenging. The monthly Communion service will be on the third Thursday of each month which is followed by refreshments. Please note that our Pastoral team is very willing to continue offering home Communion to those who request it. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Every blessing, Pouya.
Rector unable to Run!!! Sadly, Pouya has injured his knee and has had to cancel his place in the forthcoming ultramarathon taking place on 27 May. He was really looking forward to achieving this goal and is extremely grateful to everyone who has donated so far, remembering that he has already completed the challenge of running 10miles+ every day throughout the LoveFetcham week back in April, totalling 75 miles. If you would like a refund, please contact Karen in the office. To find out more visit : https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rector-on-the-run-2023

Vera Marshall’s Funeral – Wed 31 May, 4.15pm. The family invites anyone who knew Vera to attend Randalls Park Crematorium. Please do not wear mourning clothes but bright colours. There is nothing arranged for after the service.
Coronation Picnic: We would like to say a huge thank you to Sandra, Kate and all the team at Fetcham Park House for allowing us to host a picnic in the beautiful grounds on the Sunday afternoon of the King’s coronation weekend. Many thanks too to all who helped make the afternoon such a success. The picnic, flower festival and teas and cakes were very much appreciated.
Fetcham Festival – Sat 10 June, 12-4pm: This is another great opportunity for St Mary’s to have a presence at a community event. This year, we are hoping to offer a secondhand book stall and we are looking for lots of willing volunteers to help set up and run it on the day. Please contact Julie at julie@stmarysfetcham.org.uk if you can offer to help for an hour or two.

Welcome Breakfast – Sun 11 June, 9:30-11am: We are delighted to warmly welcome all newcomers, who have not been to a previous breakfast, to meet each other and have a chat with some our church family members. Children welcome. Please park at the church and come across when you are ready either after or before your usual service. To get an idea of numbers please sign up here, and let us know any dietary requirements.
St Mary’s Golf Day – Thurs 6 July, 1pm: Don’t forget to book onto the St Mary’s Fetcham golf day, once again at The Drift in East Horsley on Thurs 6 July, with tees from 1pm. The cost of £42 includes 1 course meal after the round (normally a BBQ). You can also join just for dinner if you don’t fancy the golf, price £20. Please sign up to this event so we can gauge interest, and also contact you with any information. Bank details same as last year for those who have played before. If you have any questions please contact bjegles@googlemail.com. We look forward to enjoying another great afternoon together!

Family Fun Day – Sat 22 July, 12-4pm at Manor House School: A great chance to get together for an afternoon. Please bring your own picnic food, chairs, rugs and stay for as much of the day as you can. There’s a beautiful garden at the front of the house for picnics and a bouncy castle, a variety of playgrounds for younger children to play in and lots of areas for garden games and summer sports. We will also have access to the main hall should the weather be inclement. NB: Please leave dogs at home!
Holiday at Home: The Anna Chaplaincy Team in Bookham will be running Holiday at Home once again this Summer. There will shortly be leaflets for this, but at the moment they are looking for volunteers to help look after the older people who will attend, setting up rooms and offering lifts. If you are interested in helping, please contact Anne Milton-Worssell, Anna Chaplain, The Meeting Place; T.07518735729

Their main prospect for “phase 1” is Your Fund Surrey, which supports big capital projects like this, where they will contribute to Surrey’s 2030 vision. They believe their project ticks a lot of their boxes, but we do need evidence that the local community agrees with this!
