Farewell to the Heidari Family – Sat 8th July, 4-6pm: We are very sad that Pouya and his family are moving to the US this summer where we’re sure God has big plans for them. There have been a lot of legal hoops to jump through but it now seems Pouya’s last Sunday at St Mary’s will be Sunday 16th July.
Come and say “goodbye” to the Heidari family on Saturday 8 July, 4-6pm, when we’ll be having informal tea and cake. We’re hoping the weather will be kind and that we will be outside, so please bring garden chairs. Needless to say we’re looking for people to help and to bring cake – get in touch with Corinne.
My ChurchSuite upgrade: The software creators have released a major new version of their iOS and Android apps! Rebuilt from the ground up, it offers the same great functionality with clearer navigation, improved support for multiple user accounts and better performance. This major update also lays the foundations for future updates they have in the pipeline. Since this is a major update, all users will need to log in again. To aid this, they’ve focussed on improving the login experience and clearly guiding users through the process. They trust that you will enjoy the new and improved experience! If you get stuck or need a password reset please contact Karen in the Parish Office – 01372 375000 or office@stmarysfetcham.org.uk
Hear Hear – Thurs 20 July, 10:45 – 11:30am: The NHS Hearing Clinic is run alongside the 10am Holy Communion and Coffee Morning on the 3rd Thursday of the month and is for NHS supplied hearing aids. This is a convenient local benefit, and also give the opportunity to meet new people and have a cuppa.

Homemade Stall – Sun 2 July: This Sunday we have our last Home-made Stall before our Summer break; we don’t have a stall in August. In May, we were treated to a very brief visit by Rev. Capt. Dr Danson Mwangi, the dean of Carlile College and the General Secretary of Church Army Africa; Danson was visiting England to thank supporters of the Centre for Urban Mission (CUM) and to fund raise. The money raised by the HMS has always been used for youth projects, especially the Homework Clubs (Schools of Hope) and the Apprenticeship Scheme. The Home-made Stall and your wonderful contributions fund the apprenticeships, with hardly any money coming from sources other than us! Last year we raised almost £2,000 for CUM and over the past ten years, the annual figure has gradually increased from less than £1,000pa.
The HMS team are struggling to provide enough goods for folk to buy. We need a bit more help! We could decide that after 13+ years, it is time to stop sending money to CUM and that the Homemade Stall has run its course; none of the team want that – it’s just too important! Giving hard-working dedicated youngsters in Nairobi opportunities to get a good education and an apprenticeship are vitally important and help give them a chance to escape the slums.
We just can’t continue doing this without a lot more support; might you possibly help by promising to bring some home-baking most months? Could you make cards, or seasonal crafts, or plant a few extra seedlings/veg, or bulbs? Would you be interested in joining the team?
Do come and take a look this Sunday 10.40-11.30 , donate something if you can, and please bring some cash! We also need a display for our lovely home-made cards, if you have one spare please. Thank you for all the money we have been able to send to CUM for their vital work with youngsters in Nairobi’s slums since 2012 – Mary, Liz, Margaret, Sue & Sarah
St Mary’s Family Fun Day – Sat 22 July, 12-4pm at Manor House School: A great chance to get together for an afternoon in the school’s beautiful grounds. Please bring your own picnic food, chairs, rugs and stay for as much of the day as you can. There’s a lovely garden at the front of the house for picnics and a bouncy castle, a variety of playgrounds for younger children to play in and lots of areas for garden games and summer sports. We will also have access to the main hall should the weather be inclement. If you can bring a cake to share, please get in touch with Corinne who would also love to hear from you if you can offer to help on the day. NB: Please leave dogs at home!
UNITED 2023 – Come and join us! It’s not too late to come and book on the New Wine summer conference held near Maidstone on 26-30 July! There are around a dozen of us going so far which include children, young people and adults but we would love to have more of the church family come and join us too! It should be a really great time together filled with fun, friendship and time to grow in our relationship with God!
You can find more info and also book directly at www.new-wine.org/united – but you can also speak to Nathan Ghinn if you have more questions, or if you would like to chat about coming. When booking please say you are from St Mary’s Church, Fetcham to enable us all to be in the same camping village.

Ride & Stride please – Sat 9 Sept: Do have a chat with Sarah if you’d like to participate, by walking or cycling around some of our beautiful Surrey churches. Help raise a thousand pounds again, with half going to restore Surrey churches of all denominations and half coming back directly to St Mary’s. Pick up your sponsor forms now and get sponsors through the Summer holidays.
Heritage Open Day – Sat 16 Sept: Once again working in conjunction with Fetcham Park House, we will be welcoming visitors to St Mary’s. Lots of help is needed to make this day a success. Please speak to David Slater or drop the office a line and Karen will pass it on.
