Mid-October 2022

Growing Good: Last Sunday we began a new sermon series reflecting on the material from the CPAS “Growing Good” course we studied in Lent. I began the series looking at “Presence” and Pouya suggested my reflection was made available via the Bulletin.  So, the sermon I preached at the 8o’clock and 9.30 services is attached, though the 9.30 version was slightly longer – 8o’clockers see if you can spot the difference! The bible readings I chose were Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-16 and Matthew 5:13-16. I was very struck by what it means to be “salt and light”, how that impacts on our lovingly serving and being present in our community, why we do all the things we do and how, or even if, we measure “success”, whatever that means in this context. I’m also attaching the discussion notes circulated to the home group leaders which you may find helpful for your own personal reflection if you’re not in a house group yet – though I’d really recommend you join a group where discussions can be really encouraging and stimulating in our personal faith and discipleship.
